A little bit of dancing in my life...
A student of Guru Ratikant Mohapatra and Srjan, I was a full-time member of the Srjan repertory in Bhubaneswar from 2017–2021. Through high-school and early college, I trained extensively for seven years under Smt. Sharmila Mukerjee in Bangalore in Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra's gharana of Odissi. And whilst studying in Mumbai, I had the good fortune of learning for a few months under Smt. Daksha Mashruwala. Under the guidance and mentorship of Sharmila Ma'am, I had my Rangapravesh on July 24, 2010 in Bangalore in the presence of distinguished chief guests Guru Ratikant Mohapatra, Kalamandalam Usha Datar and Smt. Chithra A. Rao.
Being a part of the Srjan ensemble was an experience of a lifetime. I got to perform on stages I had only ever seen on TV or dreamed of! Some of these memorable performances include the celebrated Konark Festival, Khajuraho Dance Festival, Dhauli Kalinga Festival, Anugamanam (Temple of Fine Arts, Singapore and Malaysia), India by the Nile (Teamwork and the Embassy of India, Egypt). I was empanelled by the Indian Council for Cultural relations in 2019.
I am also a soloist, having presented at the Every Friday Evening Cultural Programme (ICCR), Parampara Festival, Odissi International, Tarang Festival, and Pravaha Dance Festival, and have performed at Bangkok, Japan, and Germany. A fleeting foray into understanding Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore's work came in the form of an opportunity to play the role of Prakriti in Chandalika. I completed my Master's in Odissi Dance under my Guru, Shri Ratikant Mohapatra, from Sri Sri University, Cuttack, with a dissertation that explored the choreographic processes of leading present-day Odissi gurus.
The gist of this monologue is that I unabashedly and unapologetically love dancing. So much so that I am reexploring Classical Ballet as an adult at the Lewis Foundation of Classical Ballet, after training as a teenager for about a year and a half. I attend BarreFit sessions conducted by Ms. Yana Lewis, the Artistic Director of TLFCB and classes in Iyengar Yoga at The Practice Room, under the aegis of Ms. Jaya Chakraborty. I thank all my Gurus and teachers for their constant support in my journey in perfoming arts. I continue to learn Odissi from Guru Ratikant Mohapatra and Smt. Rajashri Praharaj, to whom I am forever grateful for making me a part of the Srjan family. I also extend my thanks to Ms. Ritu Sengupta (my senior at Srjan and a fantastic instructor) and other members of Srjan, and my seniors at Sri Sri University, Ms. Deepa Srivathsan and Ms. Chinmayee Dwaraknath, and my classmates for their constant encouragement and support.

"Among the big band of budding dancers, power packed performances by Maya Krishnamurthy (Bengaluru), Sreepunya Mohanty and Manisha Manaswini (both from Bhubaneswar) spoke volumes of their future as potential solo artistes."
"Maya’s dance catches the eye. Tastefully costumed, the dancer’s meticulous effort spoke forth. Neat chowkas and tribhangis surfaced right from the beginning."
